On May 1st, First Responders Day, we take a moment to recognize and honour the men and women who serve in our community, as well as in communities across the globe.
Today, we honour our partners in police, paramedic services, and fellow fire departments for the dedication they demonstrate in service to their communities.
We are privileged to work alongside you to help keep our community safe.
To the Whitby community, thank you for your continued trust and support.
It is a privilege to serve and protect you.
Your Whitby Firefighters

Big things are happening in Whitby!
This spring, your Whitby firefighters are participating in the largest captains promotional process in the history of the department!
Over the coming weeks, more than 25 firefighters will take part in a series of rigorous assessments.
These assessments include a written exam to test their knowledge, a tactical evaluation of their ability to manage emergency calls, and an interview process designed to assess their readiness for the next stage of their careers.
All of this to reach our goal of serving our community of Whitby at the highest level, now and into the future!
Best of luck to everyone taking part in the process, you make us proud! 🚒💪

This week in Ottawa, members of Whitby Professional Fire Fighters Association Local 2036 Government Relations Committee Members joined colleagues from across Canada at the 33rd IAFF Canadian Legislative Conference.
Hosted by the International Association of Fire Fighters, this annual event gives firefighters the opportunity to meet directly with federal leaders to discuss issues that impact public safety and emergency services.
While there, our team met with Whitby MP Ryan Turnbull to discuss priorities that are increasingly impacting both our members and the communities we serve.
Key conversations included the growing risks associated with lithium-ion battery fires and the need for better national tracking and training, as well as ensuring fair and up-to-date support for families of fallen firefighters.
We’ll continue advocating for the resources and protections needed to keep both our members and our community safe.
